My personal story as a photographer

The quest for perfect vision

My path in photography has always been a journey of self-learning and observation. I’ve always believed that dedication and determination to master a task are key to any professional endeavor. This mindset made me realize, during one of my trips, how frustrated I felt when I saw that the image my mind imagined didn’t match what my camera showed me.

This concern led me to my first dedicated camera, a Nikon bridge camera. Although I started out in full automatic mode, as I was unaware of the existence of manual mode, I soon felt the frustration of not having creative control. The camera kept doing what I wanted, and I knew there was a world of possibilities that my photos didn’t reflect.

The turning point came in 2013, when I finally immersed myself in mastering manual mode and RAW format. Armed with a new tool—the Nikon D5300 DSLR with an 18-140mm lens—and my Photoshop skills, which I’d already mastered since my time as a graphic designer in the late 1990s, I set out to learn.

For years, this was a process of constant evolution, learning, and many failures. But each mistake brought me closer to the vision I was seeking. Finally, I made the leap to full-frame photography with the Nikon D750 and my first professional lens, the 24-70mm F2.8. It was at that moment that my artistic vision found the right tools to materialize, and photography became an extension of my own perspective on the world.

Influences and artistic vision

Unlike many, my main inspiration doesn’t come from the famous names in the world of photography, but from the discipline itself. Over the years, I’ve spent thousands of hours observing all kinds of images, self-taught in analyzing how great photographers use light, framing, perspective, and color, and why I’m moved by the stories they tell.

My style is the result of this constant learning and my obsession with understanding and mastering the technical elements of photography. Each of my images is a reflection of that personal vision, one I’ve developed with my own eyes, always seeking to capture a moment or the beauty found in the details.

My philosophy and mission

For over a decade, I’ve captured thousands of photographs that, like most others, have remained stored in the darkness of a hard drive. Only a few have seen the light of day, exhibited in large format in my own home. This experience made me realize something fundamental: if I can enjoy my art every day, why not offer others the chance to feel the same?

With that in mind, I created fotos-art.com. Most of my photographs look and are best enjoyed in print, where they endure over time and become a tangible part of everyday life. Unlike social media or screens, which offer a fleeting viewing experience, a printed work creates a lasting visual and emotional experience.

Therefore, my mission is to give you the freedom to personalize that experience. Instead of selling prints, I license each image. This allows you to decide how, where, and on what material you want to print, making the photography fit perfectly into your favorite environment. I give you the tools to bring a work of art into your home, your workplace, or to boost a digital project with an image of exceptional quality.

My creative process

The real challenge in photography is capturing the moment. Light comes and goes in an instant, just like movement, and the perfect scene never repeats itself. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to master camera handling so I can react in time and not miss any opportunity. It’s a constant and very satisfying practice that has taught me to react and find the ideal frame in an instant when the situation requires it.

Before I get home, I already know which photo I’m going to edit first. It’s the photograph I’m going to treat with the utmost care and dedication.

Learning a multitude of editing tools and techniques has been a long process, but over time I’ve had to accept that less is more. Editing requires patient observation before beginning. I start with basic corrections and let it settle until the next day, when I return with a clear vision of what I want to achieve. It’s a long, exciting process, full of details that aren’t visible, but are there and make a difference. Only when the image conveys the emotion I’m looking for do I consider the work finished.
